How Walmart Anticipates Online Crises & Mitigates Risk
Walmart’s Senior Manager of Insights & Analytics gives us a behind the scenes look at how his team detects brand-damaging narratives spreading online, and delivers data that helps the brand’s communications teams take action.
Brands are getting caught by surprise when disinformation, viral content, and other narratives go viral online. Communications and insights teams have no time to gather data or make sense of what’s unfolding. But making the wrong decision to engage could result in an expensive and exhausting crisis that impacts brand equity and trust.
Join us for a conversation with Zach Aldrich, Senior Manager of Insights & Analytics at Walmart, who will unpack how his team:
- Proactively detects and mitigates events that could be harmful to the trust and reputation of the brand.
- Delivers insights around emerging and already-trending social media conversations to inform decisions and actions across the organization.
- Prevents teams from wasting time, money, and energy fighting unnecessary fires or accidentally fanning the flames of a narrative not worth escalating.
- Evaluates technology that enables the brand to anticipate crises and to use data as connective tissue between the teams working together to mitigate risk.
